Ready to turn the idea into a working project?
Choose the tool that fits your workflow. You never need a specific tool to use Launchda or enter the contest.
Pick an idea with real access
The advantage of building for your own campus is not that every college has the same problem. It is that you can observe a workflow, talk to users, and test quickly.
Use Emergent to accelerate the build after you understand the situation. Do not invent demand or fill the app with fake testimonials. A small project tested with five relevant people is enough to tell a credible story.
- You can reach the intended user this week
- The problem happens repeatedly
- A small web app could improve one step
- The first version can be tested without sensitive data
Campus and hostel ideas
Begin with processes currently handled through notice boards, spreadsheets, paper registers, or crowded messaging groups.
- Canteen pickup board: menu, test order, pickup number, and staff status
- Hostel maintenance tracker: issue report, reference number, and status lookup
- Lost-and-found directory: moderated listings with location and claim instructions
- Lab slot organiser: equipment availability and sample booking requests
- Campus accessibility notes: crowdsourced route obstacles and useful facilities
Learning and placement ideas
Keep AI-generated academic content clearly labelled and allow students to check original materials. Projects that organise work can be safer and easier to validate than apps claiming to provide authoritative answers.
- Placement deadline tracker for one department
- Seven-day revision planner based on dates and confidence
- Project team meeting and action tracker
- Scholarship document checklist with official-source links
- Viva practice organiser for one course
Build the smallest test
Choose one idea and write a prompt that names the user, three essential actions, sample data, mobile behavior, and exclusions. Ask Emergent for the main journey before adding login or integrations.
Test whether users understand and complete the task. You do not need hundreds of users. Three to five observed sessions can reveal the biggest problem in a first version.
- Interview two users before building
- Limit version one to three or four screens
- Use fictional data
- Observe three task-based tests
- Make one improvement from evidence
Turn the build into opportunity
Publish the working project and explain your contribution accurately. Include screenshots, your original prompt, important corrections, testing observations, and the improvement you made.
Add the complete story to Launchda. The result becomes a concrete example you can discuss in internship interviews, placement conversations, freelance pitches, and the Launchda Builder Contest.
- Problem and target user
- Version-one boundary
- How Emergent supported the build
- Testing and iteration
- Result, limitation, and next step
